Public Health Dorset’s update on COVID-19
Whilst we have seen a small drop in case rates in Dorset over the past week, infection levels remain high and we can see that nationally cases are now rising rapidly due to the spread of the Omicron variant. We expect to see cases rise in Dorset over the next few weeks.

COVID-19 cases continue to rise in both Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council areas and Dorset Council areas. More info in our latest update.
Plan B
In response to the Omicron variant, the Government has announced that England will move to Plan B.
This means that:
- From Friday 10 December, you must wear a face covering in most indoor settings
- From Monday 13 December, you must work from home if you are able to do so
- From Wednesday 15 December, COVID passes will be required in nightclubs and settings where large crowds gather

Stay COVID safe this Christmas
As Christmas approaches, we are all looking forward to seeing family and friends and to going out and doing the things we enjoy, but it’s important to take steps to help reduce the transmission of COVID-19:
- Wear a mask when you’re indoors or in a crowded space. If you’re unknowingly infected with COVID-19 this can help prevent it from spreading to other people, and if you’re wearing a face covering, you’re less likely to breathe COVID-19 particles in.
- Ventilation and letting fresh air in can protect you from breathing in virus particles from someone with COVID-19. You are at higher risk of catching or passing on COVID-19 in crowded and enclosed spaces, where there are more people who might be infectious and where there is limited fresh air.
- Take a rapid lateral flow test before you go into a high-risk situation such as meeting people, going to an event or seeing someone who is at risk of COVID-19, as this will give you peace of mind that you’re not spreading the virus. If you do test positive you can then self-isolate to protect others.

19th December – Road Closure – West Knighton
We have been notified that the road will be closed in both directions between Knighton Lane and Hardy’s Row (it’s Highgate Lane) on Sunday the 19th December from 08:00 to 16:00. This is the stretch of road across the front of St Peter’s Church and clearly alternative routes will be quite lengthy!
The closure is in order to protect an Openreach workforce who will be working on pole testing in that area.
