We seem to be inundated with proposed road closures at the moment so here is a summary of the ones we know about:
Saturday 10th September – Tour of Britain. No actual closure but the cyclists pass through Broadmayne. More details click here
Sunday 18th September – Ironman. Not passing through Broadmayne but many closures surrounding the village. More details click here.
Thursday 29th September – Road repairs 09:00 – 16:00 – Chalky Road, Main Street to South Drove – Note: “During the closure period there will be no on street parking available. Parking restrictions will be imposed to prevent waiting or parking on the roads stated above. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by this Notice may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.” although “access to properties and businesses will be maintained as appropriate. We may ask the public to wait for a short time whilst we move machinery or carry out a task.”
Sundays 9th & 16th October – Openreach 08:00 – 16:00 – Main Street (A352), Friarmayne Farm turning to Sherren Cottages.
Sunday 23rd October – Openreach – B3390 through Warmwell
24th to 26th October – Openreach – Knighton Lane, Oakwood to Spring Gardens
DC Highways have received an application from Openreach to close A352 Main Street, Broadmayne between Bramble Drove and Rectory Road (in both directions), a distance of approximately 160 metres. The closure has been requested to provide Openreach with a safe working area to undertake pole tests. These works are programmed to commence between 07:00 and 11:00 on Sunday 25th September 2022.
DC Highways have received an application from Openreach to close Knighton Lane, Broadmayne between Oakwood and Spring Gardens (in both directions), a distance of approximately 130 metres. The closure has been requested to allow Openreach to provide a safe working zone to lay new duct. These works are programmed to commence between 09:30 and 15:30 from 24th October 2022 until 26th October 2022.
Fortunately this is during the school’s half term but we have investigated what this means to the bus route and have been told the following:
“The Service 5 will still serve Broadmayne, it will use the bus stop on the A352. And opposite as a temporary stop.
The service will not serve West Knighton during the closure and will divert along the A352 to Warmwell roundabout and then go on to serve Crossways to Weymouth. Dorchester bound would serve Crossways and then divert via Warmwell through Broadmayne to Dorchester.
This will be advertised on the vehicles and media outlets before and during the closure.”
As you are all well aware, the very hot and dry conditions continue and there is a very high risk of wild fire.
If you see a fire in the countryside, get to a safe place and call 999 to report it immediately to the Fire & Rescue Service. Please provide as much detail as possible about location – the What3Words or other location apps can help – and wait for help to arrive.
For more information on the current wild fire risk please visit your local Fire Service on the link below.
