Broadmayne Art Club
The club has been running since the early 1990s and Club meetings are held in St Martins Community Hall from 14:00 to 16:00 on Wednesdays. We have a break during the summer and a shorter break at Christmas.
All levels of painting skill are catered for from absolute beginners upwards in a socially relaxed atmosphere where members get the chance to see everyone else’s work and get to know each other.
Most members paint with watercolour and beginners are treated to a 10-12 week course of instruction in watercolour techniques to get them started. Once the initial course is over most members want to paint subjects of their own choice and help is provided where needed to enable them to surmount any difficulties encountered along the way.
Some members use other media – acrylic, pastel, oils etc – and a similar path to the watercolour instruction is provided for them.
The club is led by Jim Bayliss (tel: 01305 457 505, email: jimbay930@gmail.com) and anyone considering joining our Wednesday sessions should contact Jim first for further information.
The current fee is £4.00 per session, payable on the day.
Members are requested to let Jim know if they are unable to attend a particular session.
Paper, paints, brushes and so on are provided for a newcomers first session and can be purchased at favourable rates through Jim so it is wise not to shop before joining us. What you will need is discussed at your first session and you can build up your equipment over time.
When you join the club you will be given a membership card which will get you a 10% discount at Herrings in Dorchester.
Believe it or not, newcomers will paint the picture below during their second afternoon session.
