COVID-19 infection rates have started to rise again

Check your lateral flow test instructions

When you get a new box of lateral flow test kits, always read the instructions to make sure you’re performing tests correctly. Test kits from different suppliers can have different instructions which may not be the same as tests you have used previously.

In particular, check whether you need to swab both the nose and throat, how to take the swab, and how long to wait for your test result.

You should continue to take regular rapid tests, particularly before socialising indoors and meeting people who may be at higher risk from COVID-19. Order your tests online or find your nearest collection point.

Covid-19 update from Public Health Dorset

The significant fall in case rates that we have seen over the past few weeks has now tailed off and infection rates have started to rise again since last week’s update. However, case rates for Dorset remain below the national and regional averages. Case rates are highest amongst children.

There are currently 61 people in Dorset hospitals with COVID-19 – much lower than this time last year. We know the vaccine helps to prevent serious illness and death caused by the virus, so we continue to encourage anyone who hasn’t yet had theirs to book an appoint or find a walk-in clinic.
