Caring for St Martin’s Churchyard – Volunteer Working Party
Meeting on the last Saturday of the month from around 1000-1200 a group of volunteers work in and around the grounds of St Martin’s Churchyard to ensure that the areas remain a pleasant place for remembrance and reflection.
The overall aim is to build on the contracted work (which is mostly grass cutting) that happens monthly during the summer months by tackling jobs within the scope of enthusiastic amateurs.
Please just come along with any tools suitable for tidying your garden and some gloves to protect your hands. Rest assured, there are also any number of smaller tasks suitable for little hands and for whatever levels of energy you can bring to the morning.
Refreshments are provided during the session and it has been an enjoyable and sociable morning for all involved so far. We have cut back vegetation to uncover gravestones and even a path that had been overgrown for many years. We hope you have already seen for yourselves the transformation and care of this very special place within our village. Please come to share in this very rewarding work.
In addition to the monthly working party, individuals can tackle smaller scale tasks that are explained in a green folder found in the porch of Church.
