Broadmayne Churchyard Working Group – Saturday 29th
Could you lend a hand to help the Broadmayne Churchyard Working Group on Saturday?
This month’s aims are:
– Clear some of the overgrown gravestones
– Keep on top of plants growing around the church door
– Sweep paths
– Prep pergolas for wood treatment
Plenty of jobs available, to suit any volunteers and any time you have to give. The group meets 10-12. Tea and biscuits provided!

Dreaming the Great Bear
An Evening with Acclaimed Storyteller Nick Hennessey an internationally acclaimed storyteller, playwright, folk singer, songwriter and musician, Nick Hennessey has been storytelling around the world for over 20 years, performing at venues such as the South Bank Centre and Royal Albert Hall. Nick has also broadcast documentaries for BBC Radio 4 and had musical work featured on BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction.

Nick Hennessey is particularly drawn to North European cultural traditions and has been awarded high honours in Finland for his work on their National Epic, Kalevala. A sought-after artistic collaborator, working with top of the field musicians and storytellers, Nick now heads to Dorset this November to perform as part of the programme by local charity Artsreach.
Here in the Finnish far north the light is just a little too bright
and the dark a little too blinding,
the rivers flow fast and deep and it’s all too easy to get lost in the forest.
Internationally acclaimed storyteller and musician Nick Hennessey forges a world into being in ‘Dreaming the Great Bear’. With electric harp, vocal looping and acoustic wizardry, he conjures a cosmos of the imagination. Expect a remarkable, elemental epic and a world of sound as we enter the wild, playful, and surreal territories of the Finnish myth, the Kalevala.
