We now know who will be representing the village
as members of its Parish Council
after the May elections.
We are very fortunate that seven people have stepped forward and been nominated to stand as candidates for the council. Because that is the right number of candidates to fill the seven seats this will be declared an Uncontested Election and all seven will be deemed to have been elected. They are:
Ted Byrne
Jane Cox
Barry Eason
Karen Ellis
Ash Evans
Dave Lewis
Richard Macer-Wright
The fact that we have seven people ready and willing to continue the work of the council is a clear indication of the strength of the Broadmayne community. Many parishes in the Dorset area, and probably nationwide, have insufficient candidates to fill their vacant posts or even have no candidates at all.
No council can operate in isolation and you are encouraged to attend council meetings, to make your views known to councillors, to take an active interest in village affairs and to support the community in any way that you can.
There will still be elections on 2nd of May
1) for the Dorset Councillor who will represent our area and
2) for the Police and Crime Commissioner for Dorset.
