This coming weekend, Sat 22nd & Sun 23rd June, the former D-Day Marshalling Camp ‘D5’ in the village of Broadmayne will once again be host to the Armour & Embarkation living history event. Over 100 WWII military vehicles including Sherman Tanks, Half Tracks, Armoured personnel carriers, low loaders and all the support vehicles an armoured convoy requires will be based on the old cricket field on Chalky Road.
This is one of the largest events of it’s kind and much work has gone into it’s planning. Each vehicle is privately owned and some will be travelling hundreds of miles to take part in this unique event. Participants and their vehicles will be arriving in the village from Wednesday onwards in preparation for the main convoy runs that will take place over the weekend.

Due to the nature of the event with large armoured vehicles moving through the village we will once again be creating a no parking area along Chalky Road between the village cross roads (A352) and Rectory Road (Broadmayne). This is to ensure the safe movement of the vehicles through the village in the most heavily pedestrianised area. ‘No Parking’ cones will be placed along the road on Friday morning and will be removed on Saturday evening.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding and support without which we would not be able to hold the event. The camp will be open to visitors when the convoy returns to the village at 6pm on Saturday so please do come along and say hello.
