Luke Jackson playing in Broadmayne Village Hall on 18th October

This message from Tim Clayton, for Broadmayne Events.

I am excited to be able to confirm that we have Luke Jackson playing for us in Broadmayne Village Hall on 18th October. He last played for us as a solo act in 2017, and we were astonished by his songwriting, vocal dexterity and powerful emotional expression. This time he has a bassist and drummer with him, so we can expect a real treat.

This is not an Artsreach gig, it is one which I have organised myself (with any profits going to the works needed at the church hall community venue in Broadmayne), and as I do not have the extensive promotional reach of Artsreach, I would like to ask you to help spread the word if you would be so kind…posting on your social media groups, telling friends and family..

Thank you in advance and I look forward to seeing lots of you at the gig!

Now for the blurb:

LUKE JACKSON

Canterbury based singer songwriter Luke Jackson has been touring and recording for over 10 years now, steadily developing an enviable reputation for himself in the Folk, Roots, Americana & Acoustic circuits.

In addition to the UK, Luke regularly tours across Europe, USA and Canada.

www.lukepauljackson.com

After touring in both Europe and the USA in early 2020, Luke kept himself busy throughout 2020 and engaged with the musical community through a series of themed live stream shows. After a bit of a creative writing surge, released a 7 track EP in early 2021 of songs written during lockdown called ‘Of The Time’ which garnered great reviews with ‘At The Barrier’ noting “At a time when the gift of music is something to cherish, ‘Of The Time’ is an inspired offering” and it was subsequently voted 2021 EP of the Year by Fatea Magazine!

2022 turned out to be one of Luke’s most successful years yet. It started with a prestigious support slot opening for Fairport Convention on their Winter Tour, a dream run of openers for Richard Thompson, two weeks songwriting and performing in Nashville, including a show at the iconic Bluebird Cafe, a run of shows supporting the legendary Marillion and to finish off the year, several openers with the wonderful Jools Holland.

“Blessed with one of those soulful, heaven-sent voices that soars with emotion or plunges into brooding intensity.” – The Musician Magazine

Help shape Dorset Council’s agenda

This summer, Dorset Council’s new Cabinet members are asking residents to help shape their plans and priorities for the next five years. Following the local elections in May, councillors are working through their proposed priorities and want Dorset residents to be part of that.

Cllr Ryan Hope, Cabinet Member for Customer, Culture and Community Engagement, would like to host ‘A Big Conversation’ with residents from all backgrounds across Dorset.

He said: “We are in the process of creating the new Council Plan. This is so important for everyone in the area as it sets our priorities to deliver over the next five years.

“We created our manifesto based on what we learned while campaigning. But are we on the right track? ‘A Big Conversation’ is about talking to our residents and communities, and asking what they want from the council over the next five years. Your feedback is valued and will make a difference to what the council delivers.”

Residents can also give their thoughts and feedback online. Find out more on the website: www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/a-big-conversation. This can be accessed on computers at libraries and there will also be paper copies available there.
