Broadmead – Development would be “100% affordable housing”

You may have seen in the minutes of the September Parish Council Meeting that SSL has partnered with Abri – a Not-for-Profit Housing Association. Abri’s plans for the site off Broadmead, should they get planning permission, would be to build 100% affordable homes. Half of which would be aimed at those on the Dorset Council’s Housing Register and be available at an affordable rent (capped at 80% of the market rent) whilst the other 50% would be available, to eligible clients, through a Shared Ownership scheme.

The change in emphasis to 100% affordable housing could be quite far reaching for our community but will not be reflected in a change in the planning application. To keep you informed, the Parish Council feel that it is right to share a document that SSL & Abri have produced which they say “explains the reason behind the move to 100% affordable”.
