He emphasised that it has been established that the development will go ahead, with the affordable housing component. It is understood that six out of the seven S106 issues have been agreed. A resident who had approached Mr Ackerley (Dorset Council Ranger) reported that he had been told by Mr Ackerley that the funding for the replacement bridges had been secured and had assured him that they will be replaced. However this may not be until the summer.

Other matters of report

24/83

(a) The Clerk reported on the following matters:

(i) Allotments; The Clerk is working closely with Cllr Eason. Approaches have been made to  five inactive allotment plot holders. Three written responses have so far been received – one of which was to relinquish the plot, whilst the other two have been given a deadline of 1st September to bring the plots back into full cultivation. A fourth plot holder has spent a noticeable amount of time and effort tidying their plot up. The fifth plot holder who has not yet responded is to be approached again with a further letter.

(ii) Rights of Way issues: Chasers have been sent by both the Clerk and Dr Janet Davis (Rights of Way Officer) to Mr Ackerley of Dorset Council to request a progress update on the replacement Bridges at Washponds.

(b) The Council Chair

Prompted by the bulb planting project for the centre of the village, Cllr Macer-Wright wondered what other small and currently untended areas of the village might be suitable for some planting and regular maintenance by local volunteers for the benefit of the village as a whole. He suggested that if requests were to come forward from individuals or groups for such projects which required funds for some planting etc, the Council would give them serious consideration. Cllr Evans suggested that for any such small areas of land which DC currently holds there might be scope to explore with Dorset Council a Community Asset Transfer request.

(c) Reports from Councillors:

Cllr Ellis expressed continued concerns about the parking on residential roads of vehicles offered for sale locally.

Cllr Eason remarked on the grit bin at the junction of Broadmead and Rectory Rd which had been seriously damaged after being hit by a car. This has been reported to DC Highways.
He also remarked on the overgrown hedge / verge on the western side of Chalky Rd opposite the allotments. This is also being reported to DC Highways.
